Description

For 200 years, Tulip Poplars planted by Thomas Jefferson stood sentinel by Monticello's west lawn portico.  Then, in 2008 and 2011, the enormous trees succumbed to age and illness and were taken down.  Dennis Hippen is one of several local artisans The Thomas Jefferson Foundation has entrusted to honor their beauty and historic significance.  He pursues his passion for hand turned wood artwork in Waynesboro, Virginia, and is a member of the Central Virginia Woodturners and American Association of Woodturners.

Wood from these majestic trees has been used to create elegant fountain pens that are each one of a kind.  The wood has been treated to insure many years of use.  Hardware is durable Cobalt Black Titanium finish with a German made gold colored writing nib.  Each fountain pen has a black ink cartridge installed plus a dozen more cartridges.  One can also use bulk ink with the provided pump accessory that can replace the cartridge.

Written instructions/tips are provided with each pen to assist with new cartridge replacement and use of the pump for bulk ink.  Also included are sources for new ink cartridges and bulk ink supplies.

Overall length is 5 inches.  Each pen is one-of-a-kind.  Color and size may vary slightly.
