Historic Seeds

Bring historic seeds from Monticello’s Center for Historic Plants to your garden and yard. We have a wide selection of vegetable and herb seeds, annual flower seeds, and seeds for perennial and biennial flowers. Many are unusual and hard to find like Purple Calabash seeds, Blackberry Lily seeds and Hyacinth Bean seeds. Don’t know where to start? Try one of our carefully-curated seed collections, like the one designed to attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators to your garden. All of our historic seeds are non-GMO, open-pollinated varieties or straight species. The seeds of open-pollinated vegetables, herbs and flowers can be saved to replant from year to year.  Seeds will typically remain viable for several years when stored in a cold, dry environment, such as an airtight container in your refrigerator.
