Thomas Jefferson approached natural history as a scientist whose aim was to observe and define seemingly all the natural phenomena “fabricated at our feet” whether the wind direction, the blooming dates of wildflowers, or the life cycle of insects. He always made careful entries to his Garden Book and in 1794 he recorded that he had planted 65 hills of peanuts (which Jefferson referred to as “peendars”) and the resulting yield. Made in Virginia. 6 oz. (Contains peanuts and almonds.)
