10 bulbs per bag

This showy bulb is native throughout Europe as far north as Russia. Crocus have been cultivated in America since at least the eighteenth century. “Twenty sorts” were sent from the English patron Peter Collinson to his associate John Bartram during the mid-1700s and the Philadelphia nurseryman Bernard McMahon offered “many varieties” of spring Crocus in 1806. Jefferson received “6 Roots of a beautiful variety of Crocus vernus, of very early bloom; flower white inside and beautifully striped outside” from McMahon in 1812. The variety offered here is an early twentieth-century cultivar that resembles older garden forms. zone4,zone5,zone6,zone7,zone8
