Considered Thomas Jefferson’s favorite, this green tea is made from thinly rolled young leaves that unfurl when brewed.  It has a fresh, verdant flavor with full-bodied, warm, plum-like tones. Possibly named after English tea merchant Phillip Hyson, it was highly prized by colonial Americans and more heavily taxed than other teas. During the Boston Tea Party, 70 chests of Hyson were destroyed.  Young Hyson, picked in the spring, is considered a higher quality tea than regular Hyson.   Shelf life is 24 months. Packaged in South Carolina. 1 oz. package makes 30 cups.
