This current version of Jefferson's Rent Table is possibly the most historically accurate version made to date. Each piece is made using traditional joinery techniques and every boxwood letter is individually inlaid. Drawers are hand dovetailed and all carving and turning is done by hand. Produced in Virginia by master craftsman Paul Boyd. His award winning reproductions have been ranked as being of "museum quality" in national competitions. See his work at

The "rent" table, as the name suggests, would be used at a large country estate for the management of the rent collection from the estate tenants. The numbered drawers around the rotating frieze were also sometimes marked with letters of the alphabet and would be used to order the paperwork and ledgers. Jefferson used his table habitually for filing purposes and is currently on display in the book room at Monticello.

The Octagonal case has four drawers and four hinged triangular compartments and revolves on a fluted column supported by serpentine legs above brass casters. Made of genuine South American mahogany with maple interiors and drawers. Measures 28 1/2" tall by 32 1/2" in diameter. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.
